OSAKA, JAPAN — The opening round of the WGP#1 Waterjet World Series 2025 delivered a dramatic start to the season at Nishikinohama Beach, Osaka, from May 15–18, with more than 200 world-class athletes from 21 countries across five continents vying for glory. Amid a stacked lineup of world champions and international veterans, two unexpected names emerged victorious: Cambodia’s #33 Filin Saly and Thailand’s #58 Dr. Worakit Mongkolporn.

The final Moto brought more fireworks. Thailand’s #45 Suphathat Footrakul, the world champion in PRO-AM RUNABOUT 1100 OPEN now stepping up into PRO SPORT GP, stunned the field by seizing the lead early and holding off the pack all the way to the finish. Saly chased closely in P2, displaying maturity and consistency beyond his years.
