Japan’s Hajime Isahai (#J87) and Megumi Hattori (#95) Crowned Champions at “Osaka Grand Prix 2025” as WGP#1 World Series Roars to Life

OSAKA, JAPAN – The WGP#1 Waterjet World Series 2025 launched in spectacular style at Nishikinohama Beach, Osaka, Japan, from 15–18 May. Over 200 top-tier athletes from 21 countries across five continents : Europe, the Americas, Asia, Oceania, and Africa, gathered to compete in the season-opening battle: the Osaka Grand Prix.

The home crowd had every reason to celebrate as Japanese stars #J87 Hajime Isahai and #95 Megumi Hattori delivered remarkable performances, securing championship titles in the ENDURANCE OPEN and PRO-AM WOMEN SKI GP categories.

The ENDURANCE OPEN, known for its grueling format, featured 26 competitors from 12 nations, including international standouts such as:
#4 François Medori (France) – The reigning World Cup Champion
#88 Hugo Pastorello (France) – Son of endurance legend, Jean-Bruno Pastorello
#961 Nicolas Chamand (France) – 2021 World Champion
#553 Kylie Ellmers (New Zealand) – The lone female warrior in the field
#22 Anthony Radetic (USA) – A fan favorite and fierce competitor


But the spotlight shone brightest on Hajime Isahai, who surged ahead from the holeshot in Moto 1 and held his lead to the end.

In the final moto, despite intense pressure from the likes of Medori, Isahai remained unshaken. With flawless form and unmatched endurance, he delivered a perfect game, earning the full 800 points and claiming the Osaka Grand Prix 2025 title to thunderous cheers from the home crowd.

In the final moto, Isahai proved it wasn’t luck – it was dominance. He led wire to wire once again, delivering a perfect score of 800 points and a statement victory to open the season.

Over in the PRO-AM WOMEN SKI GP, sparks flew in an intense battle between champions and rising stars.

#69 Rokka Kamata (Japan) – Defending Asian Champion
#911 Sophie Francis (USA) – Current World Champion

Moto 1 saw #95 Megumi Hattori seized the lead at the holeshot and controlled the race all the way to the finish.

Moto 2 brought a comeback from #27 Mami Kaneko, who powered through to take that round. However, Hattori’s earlier momentum and strong overall score of 113 points sealed her victory and earned her the championship crown.
